Coroana Hotel
The Coroana Hotel is one of the architectural jewels of Brasov, is the oldest hotel in town, the meeting place for personalities of all times. Located on the famous pedestrian street of the city, the Republic Boulevard, close to the line of the gate of the old city, near Piata Sfatului and the Black Church, the hotel attracts by Art Nouveau and Baroque architecture and therefore was declared a historical monument. The architects Schuller and Goldsmidt inspired by muncheneza architecture were proposing a symbolic building that pleased both the aesthetic and the functionality.
The hotel’s threshold has been stepped by important personalities of Romanian spirituality such as George Cosbuc, Cincinat Pavelescu, Lucian Blaga, Emil Cioran and Octavian Goga.
Here was held the first literary meeting in Brasov, in 1923.

• Meaning and prestige: Coroana Hotel was originally called (Krone Hotel) after the old name of the town (Kronstadt or the Crown City), keeping the mystery of legend and myth that lies at the base of the name "Brasov".
• Uniqueness: Coroana was the first modern hotel in town, built in 1910 by involving local authorities to respond to the growing number of customers who were attracted by the benefits of this area, the fresh mountain air and its beauty.
• Architecture: The administration of a plan to build the representative hotel of Brasov meant finding a suitable architect. Therefore, after organizing a competition, Schuller and Goldsmidt were selected. With a revolutionary design, of muncheneza inspiration , Coroana hotel was built in Baroque and Art Nouveau styles that is that are still preserved today both inside and outside.
• Inspiration and talent of the architects: Coroana was a first class hotel, equipped with a courtyard and a restaurant with a famous Viennese cafe and a club frequented by journalists and literary men.
• Famous people were hosted at Coroana Hotel: A meeting place for personalities of that time - the first literary meeting taking place in Brasov, was at the Coroana Hotel in 1923.
• Artists meeting place: Over the years, Coroana hotel has hosted cultural figures, musicians, actors and artists who came together through the various contracts for outstanding events of the city (Golden Stag, contests conductor of the Chamber Music Festival, Medieval Festival ,Opera, Vaudeville and Ballet Festival and Contemporary Drama Festival).
